Scintilena - English Version

The year 2007 seems to be really a lucky year for explorative italian caving.

Up there, on the Piani Eterni, in the Dolomiti Bellunesi (Dolomites, Eastern Alps) a really huge “monster” of unexpected extent is being discovered.
After the kilometric explorations in the Gallerie dei Cinghiali (Wild Bores Passage), a phreatic level at –550 meters below the entrance, the summer camp still held is leading to the discover of at least another half kilometer of new explored passages, with a great escalation of results.
Let’s take a look on it.

News of Matteo Baroni GSAL

The people continue to scout the Abisso 5 luglio, located on the Monte Pisanino in the Alpi Apuane. The surveying is at the deep pf -590 meters and it seems, in the plant, to head towards the close Carcaraia valley;  we have tried at the top of the last pit P100, to follow the air flow but unfotunately it dispels in the breakdown, finally we have rummaged the
last hall. Folowing a little air flow we have been able to get down  about 10 meters in the breakdown that it’s the floor oh the hall, after this we arrived at a passage that it need to make secure with poles. We suppose that after this passage there is something interesting because  we can hear to peal the sounds; we think large rooms. For this weekend it’s programmed a working team of house-builder with timbers of oak chestnut, steel cable and all it’s need to exit safe from the passage.
At this exit other than GSAL, there are caving teams of LUcca, Firenze and La Spezia.

This message to give you some lastest news before our General Assembly meeting (GAM) on next 14th of August in Visby-Sweden during the Baltic Speleological Congress (BSC) “EuroSpeleo Forum 2007″. I’ve been told that it’s a fantastic kartic island, very charmful and a middleage atmosphere … It is still time to register on http://www.speleo.se/bsc/ , and please note that the participation to the GAM and FSUE public meeting on the day before are completly free of access for European cavers.
