Buso della Rana, new discoveries in the north branches

News from Sandro Sedran, traslated by Claudia Rossetti

After almost twenty years Malo’s group has returned to Camino dell’Eco and the branch that overtop it, to replace the old rigs. At the base of the enormous landslide, that had stopped since that time the explorers, a void under the rocks and the curiosity of a young trainee have given almost half kilometer of new galleries. The new branch advances toward west for 60 meters and emerges in an ample fireplace-hall from which four ramifications depart. The north ramification begins with beautiful phreatic ducts, that remind the roman aqueducts with semi-barrel dome and develop in a network of intersection of minor galleries, all to be explored, to open into a series of pits that go down for 60 meters until a landslide from which a strong tide of air originates. The network conceals a small hall with numerous chalk crystallizations, among which also a beautiful “flower” of around 5 cm, unusual for the Rana. On the other side of the well-fireplace the path to south conducts to another series of pits that also go down of  60 meters to close in landslide; the southeast path is a muddy meander of about fifty meters on landslide, but it seems the more promising one because of the strong tide of air. Work in progress the cave map and the explorations will hock us for every month to come.
