Increduli News

After months of waiting, due to various unexpected event, this weekend (17 november n.d.r.) we were able to return to the deep of the Abyss of the “Due Increduli”.
Particularly, the low temperatures and the small rains of the last weeks allowed us to obtain favorable water conditions up to around -520, while the big tributary arriving from the Zombie’s branches maintained a discreet course that, even without blocking the access to the -620 siphon, immediately demolished our illusions to find it, more or less, empty.
In effects, the level of the siphon was nearly equal to that one measured in the past. At this point we proceeded with our intent, i.e to try to travel the several partially flooded branches, searching for a passage with air flow.
The almost integral bath with watertight of a willing volunteer underlined the impossibility to find a practicable passage without a total immersion, while at a lower level the flooded areas seem to be great enough to allow a serious attempt of underwater progression.
Momentarily failed the siphon’s matter, we took advantage of this chance to measure and check some sub-horizontal areas situated in the near closeness, but in a level just above it: the hall of the “Macchinina”.
The check gave its fruits. A low siphon of mud, previously ignored, presumably for its scarcely reassuring aspect, was hiding, to the other side, a room of discreet dimensions, followed by a second siphon of mud at the limits of human practicability. Once we won a certain reluctance, we overcomed this obstacle too, reaching a chimney covered of mud.
The frightening climbing, fortunately few meters only, allowed the access to new big areas, some of them ascending (with good air circulation) and other watertabled, descending.
Here an active route, with a flat ceiling and clay accumulations, has been found and followed until the vault is low enough to limit the access.
Totally we measured, considering the old and the new measurement, around 100 meters of new areas and, surprisingly, we discovered that the new bottom is -623m, therefore about 3 meters lower than the level of the siphon pool. Hard but not impossible will be the overcoming of this new bottom, considered that it is needed only to remove some mud having the feet flooded in the water… even if over there something will worth.
The little spare time did not allow us to verify the various explorations possibilities leaning out along the wells below -520. Considering the latest news, it would be useful to find an alternative way to quickly reach these regions indeed, even through the Crevazza Fruttari or the Laca of Muradèi. At the moment, mainly because of the initial meander, the reasonably profitable journeys require from 18 above to 24 hours to be done. Adding the team “Bottom” (R. Gaiti and myself), in the cave there was a second team (A Corna and a guest: S. Virgillito, for the GS Belpasso) that first went to retrieve the drill to the Zombie’s branches (at around -500) and then had a brief digging in the left ramification of the “Condotte Fossili” branch, staying at the bottom of a new 6-7 meters chimney, not climbable, but with an evident prosecution.
Currently the abyss of the two Unbelievers reaches 634m of depth and about 1900 meters of measured polygonals, besides some sprig not yet topographed
