International photo contest: Speleology and Karstic Environment
Art. 1 Announcement
The “Associazione Gruppi Speleologici Piemontesi Onlus” (AGSP) and the “Ente di Gestione Parchi e Riserve Naturali Cuneesi” proclaim an International Photo Contest based on different subjects titled “Speleologia e Ambiente Carsico” (Speleology and Karstic Environment).

Art. 3
The Contest is organized in the 30th anniversary of the “Parco Naturale Alta Valle Pesio e Tanaro” (Natural Park of High Pesio Valley and Tanaro) and provides for an exhibition during the celebrations that will be organized by the “Ente di Gestione Parchi e Riserve Naturali Cuneesi”.
Art. 4 Subjects of the contest
The contest is divided into two sections and a special subject. Section One has as a thread speleology and karstic phenomena in general, while Section Two is dedicated exclusively to the territory of the “Parco Naturale Alta Val Pesio e Tanaro”.
Subjects of Section One
Subject 1 SUBTERRANEAN ENVIRONMENT (macro, details, passages, pits, etc.)
Subject 2 THE WATER WAYS
Subject 3 KARSTIC SURFACES
In Section One shots taken in any cave on Earth are admitted, focusing on relations between speleology, places where it is practiced and people who make it possible.
Subjects of Section Two
Subject 4 THE MARGUAREIS (environment, life, flora, fauna)
Section Two allows only shots taken in the area within boundaries of the Parco Naturale Alta Val Pesio e Tanaro (Cuneo, Italy).
Special Subject CAVERS’ LIFE
Art. 5
The entrance to the Contest is open, members of the jury and of the board of directors of the AGSP are excluded, as well as the employees and directors of the “Ente di Gestione Parchi e Riserve Naturali Cuneesi”.
Art. 6 How to take part to the Contest
Any competitor can apply for a maximum number of three printed photos for each section.
Each photograph can be colour or black and white, in any case it must be printed on photographic paper. The prints must not have set on any support. The prints must have the longer side of a length between 24 centimeters and 40 centimeters, the shorter side must not be shorter than 18 centimeters; all the prints must take on the reverse surname and name of the Author, address, telephone number, photo title, place where it was taken the picture and the section to which it is enlisted.
Photographs digitally modified are not allowed.
The competitors must send, in addiction to prints of their photos, unless they are excluded from the contest, the following documentation:
- Application form correctly filled in and signed even in the section dedicated to the management of personal data, the form can be downloaded at www.agsp.it
- A short curriculum vitae, including the experience in caving and photography, part taken in exhibitions etc. This curriculum is needed only to know the profile of competitors and will have no influence on the evaluation of the pictures.
Subscribing and sending the application form implies the whole knowledge and acceptance of these regulations.
Art. 7 Expiry time and delivery of pictures
Works and required documents must be delivered to the AGSP, 30 Galleria Subalpina , 10123 Torino (Italy) not later of May 20th 2008.
Art. 8 Non admission causes
Applications will not be considered if:
- Not correctly signed
- Not completed by required documents, or with documents not suiting the requirements of these regulations
- Delivered later of May 20th 2008 or sent after the term of May 20 2008 (date of post stamp will be taken in consideration).

Special mentions
The works that, in the opinion of the jury, deserve a special mention, will be exposed in the exhibition that will be held at the “Ente Gestione Parchi e Riserve Naturali Cuneesi”, in the day of the prize-giving.
The winners of prizes will be contacted, their names will be published on a web page of the website of AGSP (www.agsp.it) almost 20 days before the prize-giving date and will be published on local papers.
The prize-giving and the contemporary opening of the exhibition of the photos will be held at the seat of the “Ente di Gestione Parchi e Riserve Naturali Cuneesi”.
The date of the prize-giving and opening of the exhibition will be communicated by publishing it on the web site of AGSP and communicated directly to winners.
Art. 10 Jury
The jury of the Contest will be chaired by a representative of AGSP who will have no vote right; the jury members will be people of undiscussed technical and professional knowledge in the field of speleological photography; names of the members of jury will be published on the AGSP website some days before the evaluation of pictures.
Art. 11 Admission fee
The admission to the Contest is free. The competitors have on their charge mailing expenses for pictures and documents delivery.
Art. 12 Pictures and documents sent, further use and copyright
Copyright on pictures will be of Authors, save the following terms.
The competitor is the only and exclusive author of the pictures. The competitor assures that pictures, documents and rights on them are not prejudicial to others’ right; the Author assures that for pictures representing people, things or natural items for whom a specific assent to portrait is required, the appropriate permission has been given; Author
takes himself full resposibility so the Contest organization is discharged from others’ rights. Taking part in the Contest, Authors allow the AGSP to use and publish the
pictures even outside the Contest and connected events.
All sent pictures will become part of the AGSP archive and can be used by AGSP with no time limits to pursue the social aims of the Association.
The Association is anyway committed to show Authors’ data on used pictures.
Everything sent will be in property of the AGSP and will not be returned to Authors.
The organisation board will not be responsible in case of mailing loss or damages of documents and pictures.
The application to the Contest implies full acceptance of these regulations.
