Winter expedition in Kaninski podi - Speleoproject Mt. Kanin -2000 m
The first part of expedition (Samonil, Medzihradsky, Slama,
Matejickova, Caslavsky, Svoboda a Spider /O. Stos/) built the base camp by The P. Skalarja Cottage in 2260 ms above sea level. There are 3 ms of snow and temperatures from -12 to -2°C. After the long searching the cave entrance was identified - there are about 10 ms of snow. The digging up still goes on. There was built also the big snow house
leeward the cottage, where is the kitchen and the common room. All the day long there was strong wind blowing, fog and very bad view. The cable way out of service. The next part of expedition from Poland, Spain and England is expected in coming days.

We have 80 cms of new snow covering the original 3 ms. Big danger of avalanche, Graben and Prevala are closed. The transport of material to base camp was finished. We are still digging the cave entrance up, there is about 10 ms of snow. The another participants from Great Britain and Spain
arrived. The couple Caslavsky, Samonil/CZ are digging the cave entrance up from the early morning. The work will go on during the all night from Sunday on Monday. Walk possible only on snow shoes. Tomorrow are expected the participants from Krakow/PL. The weather is unstable, could clear up only on Tuesday evening.
