During Vercors 2008 one unique qualitative cave protection project form all over Europe will be awarded for the first time with this European award.
The aim of the EuroSpeleo Protection Label is to support the active cave protection in the speleo clubs, commitees, national commissions, etc, all over Europe and to share this knowledge European wide.

“GRYKA E MADHE expedition 2008”
SUMMARY REPORT OF THE BULGARIAN CAVING TEAM
26th January-2nd February 2008
After many years of research in the caves of all Balkan countries, Kosovo still remained the last area (or country) where Bulgarians have not been yet to survey caves, springs and other karst phenomena.
In December 2007 we were very happy to receive invitation from the Slovak cavers to join their traditional winter expedition in the area of the cave “GRYKA E MADHE” near the town of Peje in January 2008. The invitation was published in the web site of the Bulgarian Federation of Speleology and the team was selected from the cavers who applied. At More About.. »
On the 10th february 2008, the international expedition Kota 1000/Cavex Skalarjevo Brezno 2008, having been a part of a speleological project Mt. Kanin -2000 m, finished.
25 speleologists from Czech republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Great Britain, Slovenia and Spain have participated the severe winter expedition. The expedition faced a bad weather, a strong gust wind up to 100 km/hour and a frequent snowing right from the start.
An entrance localization and its digging to open the cave lasted nearly 3 days in up to 10 m thick snow layer. The expedition basecamp was in More About.. »

Winter expedition in Kaninski podi - Speleoproject Mt. Kanin -2000 m
The first part of expedition (Samonil, Medzihradsky, Slama,
Matejickova, Caslavsky, Svoboda a Spider /O. Stos/) built the base camp by The P. Skalarja Cottage in 2260 ms above sea level. There are 3 ms of snow and temperatures from -12 to -2°C. After the long searching the cave entrance was identified - there are about 10 ms of snow. More About.. »

to participate a national encounter
XVII. SPELEOMEETING

During the undertaking cavers will present speleology attractions and exploration results in 2007 home and abroad as well

- discovery by SSS members in Slovakia in 2007

Spectators´ award for
- the most valuable contribution from home localities
- the most valuable contributions from localities abroad
Visitors are invited whole day to listen interesting lectures, see videos by slovak cavers from significant discoveries in home karst areas, but unique discoveries abroad too.
Slovak cavers discover caves in Slovakia and throughout the world as well, take care to protect them and bring them closer to public as natural and culture-historical monuments. Nature reveals its underground mysteries to them, also its beauties and treasures, in order everybody could admire them.
