The “Emil Racovitza” Speleological Institute and the International Society of Biospeleology are inviting you to the 18th International Symposium of Biospeleology held in Cluj, on 10-17 July 2006. The location of the symposium is the city of the first Speleological Institute in the world, founded by EMIL RACOVITA, also the author of the “Essai sur les problèmes biospéologiques” (Essay on biospeleological problems). This work, published in 1907, marked the birth of a new science, the Biospeleology. We invite you to celebrate 100 years of Biospeleology among Romanians and the beauties of our landscapes.

Dear Colleagues,
The Second Circular will give you more information on the Symposium:
1. Please keep in mind that Deadlines are 30th April for Registration and 31st May for Abstract submission.
2. Below you will find the Proposed Scientific Programme and the modality of Payment of Registration fees & other Information.
3. A list of hotels, campsites and youth hostels, flights from and to Cluj-Napoca, and details about the proposed post-symposium excursion (16-20 July 2006) are also added.
4. In the third circular (beginning with 1st February) you will find detailed Registration and abstract submission forms. Both will be available on the www.cmcarst.ro site, which will also provide more information about the city of Cluj-Napoca, transportation facilities and the excursion.

ACCOMMODATION
Details on the accommodation will be presented in the 2nd Circular. There are several hotels around the place where the symposium will take place. The prices vary from 30 to 60 _/single room (*** and ****Hotels), and14 _/night in Youth Hostel. Two campings are also available near the town.
