Cave surveyors are invited to submit their maps for the Cartography Salon, which is organized on the occasion of 16th International Congress of Speleology (ICS). All the submitted maps will be displayed and will take part in a competition in the following categories (may be subject to change depending on received applications):
1.Cave cartography (one cave or system)
•Hand-drawn
•Computer drawn
•Artistic map
2.Regional cartography
•Karst area map
•Cave map atlas, cave maps’ collection
3.Artificial underground map (mines, bunkers, industrial objects)
4.3D model (can include the surface)
5.Interactive presentation
6.Internet presentation
A committee of international cartographers will judge during the ICS. Awarded surveyors will receive awards at the award evening, which will be held on Thursday July 25th. Judging will combine technical expertise as well as form and artistic representation based on the rules described below.
No entry fee is required. Maps will not be reproduced without permission of the submitting author(s). Maps may be submitted for competition or for display only. Any participant may enter no more than five maps. Maps delivered in electronic form for web presentation, will be displayed on the web pages of ICS, if authors give their permission.

Entry criteria
All submitted maps must represent caves or karst (pseudokarst) related features. A special category is dedicated to artificial objects of historical value.
Please, send copies of maps, not originals. There is no restriction on the methods of presentation; innovative techniques are encouraged (after consulting with the organizers). All mailed maps must be sent to the ICS address by July 1st 2013, or be delivered to the Cartography Salon show room at the ICS by noon on Sunday, July 21st 2013. Electronic presentations must be sent to the above-mentioned e-mail address before July 1st 2013. Presentations requiring special IT infrastructure or software have to be negociated with the organizers.
