The Hidden City: a trip in the underground of Naples

Naples has a feature almost unique in the world: while we walk through the streets in the and we see its artistic beauties in the aboveground, its underground hides a invisible world almost unexplored.
Under every main building of the historical centre, there’s a quarry which the Greeks used to dig up rock material to build their city “Neapolis”.
From the Greek time and until the contemporary period, a “parallel city” has been created, a city at forty meters underground, made of an intricate net of cisterns, passages and channels full of water during the past.
A mysterious reality not all discovered yet and which we can visit nowadays thanks to charming guided tours, through the “bowels of Naples”.
