Un gruppo misto di speleologi sloveni e arabi esploreranno e studieranno un sistema di grotte situato a nord dell’Emirato di Ras Al Khaimah.

WAM Ras Al Khaimah, 20th Jan. 2011 (WAM) — A joint team of Emirati-Slovenian geomorphologists will conduct a maiden exploratory mission to a cave in north of emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.

Dr. Asma Al Ketbi, Associate Professor, UAE University and Chairwoman of the Emirates Geographic Society, said the scientific expedition aims to study and understand the geographic and historic characteristics of the cave and determine the most rainy periods in the UAE over the last 300,000 years through analysis of sediments of hanging and falling pillars, if found, in caves.

Caves, she explained, are among the earth’s most geomorphologic phenomena of high monitoring sensitivity of rainy periods.
